Zverev is chasing a first Slam title in the final with Alcaraz at Roland Garros

Alexander Zverev vs. Carlos Alcaraz is the final of this year's Roland Garros. The match in Paris starts at 16:00 Bulgarian time. The German is chasing the first Grand Slam title of his career. His rival already has two - US Open (2022) and Wimbledon (2023).

For Zverev, this will be his second appearance in a Slam final. In 2020, he fell to Dominic Thiem in five sets in the US Open trophy match. Sasha is the second German after Michael Stich (1996) who will challenge for the Roland Garros title. The 27-year-old is on a 12-match winning streak after also triumphing at the Masters 1000 in Rome days before the battles move to Paris.

In the first round, Sasha Zverev knocked out 14-time champion Rafael Nadal.

"In the past, we have played quite a few contested matches against each other. I'm probably the opponent that Carlos has played against the most. I think he is a better player now compared to our last match. It will be a very difficult match, but in a Grand Slam final you can't expect anything else. We both deserve to be here and I'm sure we have a memorable fight ahead of us," Zverev announced before the final.

Alcaraz will be playing for the first trophy of the tournament. Carlitos is the youngest player to reach Major finals on three different surfaces.

"You have to find joy in suffering, that's the key. Even more here, on clay, at Roland Garros, long matches, five sets, four hours, you have to fight, suffer, but you also have to enjoy the suffering." This was stated by the Spaniard after the victory over the future No. 1 Yannick Siner in the semi-finals of Roland Garros. | BGNES
