The latest data from Bloomberg's Billionaires Index shows that Mark Zuckerberg has increased his personal fortune by an incredible $73.4 billion and will reach $201 billion in 2024. The Meta CEO is the fourth richest person in the world, joining the unreachable $200 billion club that counts only three other members, CNN reported.
Tesla and X CEO Elon Musk ($272 billion), Jeff Bezos ($211 billion), founder of Amazon, and Bernard Arnault ($207 billion), CEO of luxury brand LVMH, are the only people to overtake Zuckerberg.
The 40-year-old Zuckerberg, who launched Facebook in 2004, has tied much of his wealth to Meta Platforms stock. Meta's stock is up nearly 64% through 2024. On September 25, the company's assets rose 0.9% to close at a record high of $568.31. On September 27, Meta's shares fell to $567.36.
Meta operates the popular social media platforms Facebook, Instagram and Threads, as well as the instant messaging app WhatsApp.
"We're almost to 500 million monthly (active users), and we haven't even launched in some of the bigger countries yet," Zuckerberg said, referring to European Union countries.
He's not the only tech mogul whose fortune has grown significantly this year. Jensen Huang, CEO of Nvidia, and Larry Ellison, co-founder of Oracle, have increased their net worth in 2024 by $62.2 billion and $58.6 billion, respectively. | BGNES
