"The inaugural Peace Summit can become a format that brings us closer to a just end to this war."
This is what Zelensky said to the French Parliament regarding the high-level meeting, which will be hosted by Switzerland this month, dedicated to the establishment of peace in Ukraine.
"I am grateful to you for everything you are already doing, which is a lot. But for a just peace, more must be done," he said, quoted by AFP.
He warned that 80 years after the D-Day landings in World War II, Europe was "sadly no longer a continent of peace".
"It is in Ukraine that the key to Europe's security is located," added the president, implying that peace cannot be achieved along the current lines of control.
"Because without control over Ukraine, Russia will have to be a normal nation-state, not a colonial empire that is constantly looking for new territories in Europe, as well as in Asia and Africa," Zelensky pointed out. | BGNES
