Zelensky: Putin wants to shift the blame for the terrorist act to Ukraine

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has accused Russian President Vladimir Putin of trying to "shift the blame" on Kiev for the Moscow concert hall attack that killed at least 133 people.

"What happened yesterday in Moscow is obvious: Putin and the other scumbags are just trying to shift the blame to someone else," Zelensky stressed after Putin announced that the suspects had fled to Ukraine.

"They always have the same methods," added Zelensky.

Earlier, in a televised address, President Putin announced that the four gunmen arrested for the deadly attack were "traveling to Ukraine, where according to preliminary information from the Ukrainian side, a window was prepared for them to cross the state border."

Kiev angrily rejected the Russian leader's claims, which come more than two years after Moscow invaded Ukraine.

"This scoundrel Putin, instead of dealing with his Russian citizens, addressing them, is silent for a day, thinking how to get him to Ukraine. Everything is absolutely predictable," Zelensky said.

The Islamic State (IS) group. claimed responsibility for the terrorist attack in Moscow.

It is the deadliest attack in Russia in almost two decades and the deadliest in Europe, with IS believed to be behind it.

In his address, Vladimir Putin did not mention the terrorist group's statement. /BGNES
