Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has called on US President Joe Biden and Chinese President Xi Jinping to attend a peace summit in Switzerland next month.
"I appeal to the world leaders who are still on the sidelines of the global peace meeting efforts: to President Biden, the leader of the United States, and to President Xi, the leader of China," Zelensky said in a video message. "Please support the peaceful summit with your personal leadership and participation," Zelenskiy pleaded, saying that "the efforts of the global majority are the best guarantee that all commitments will be fulfilled."
The conference on the war in Ukraine will be held in Lucerne on June 15-16. The Swiss government said it had invited 160 delegations, but Russia would not attend. Zelensky said that "more than 80 countries have confirmed that they will come." /BGNES, AFP
