Zelensky asked Switzerland to organize a leadership meeting to end the Russian invasion

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has asked Switzerland to organize a peaceful high-level meeting of world leaders to end Russia's full-scale invasion, but without inviting Moscow, AFP reported.
Zelensky spoke with Swiss President Viola Amherd during his visit to Bern before heading to the World Economic Forum's annual meeting in the Swiss resort of Davos.
"From tomorrow, our teams will start preparations for holding a world peace summit in Switzerland," the Ukrainian president said at a press conference after the talks. The summit "must determine that the end of the war must be just," he said.
As for whether Russia would be invited, Zelensky said: "We are open to all countries in the world that respect our sovereignty and territorial integrity. Therefore, you can draw your own conclusions about who we will invite."
"We would certainly like the countries of the global south to be present," added the Ukrainian leader, and "we would like China to participate."
No time frame was given for the summit.
Russia's war in Ukraine will enter its third year in February, and Moscow has stepped up its airstrikes against Ukraine in recent weeks.
"We would like to have a broadly supported summit with the participation of as many countries as possible to make it a success," Amherd said.
"As soon as the moment comes when we see that we can hold a successful summit, we will organize it jointly"./BGNES
