Zakharova: The West must stop supplies to the Ukrainian army if it wants to negotiate with Russia

The spokeswoman of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova commented on the words of the Swiss Foreign Minister Inazio Cassis about the need to include Russia in the negotiations on Ukraine. She said that in order for Russian representatives to participate in the discussions, Western countries must stop accepting anti-Russian sanctions and supplying weapons to Ukraine's armed forces.

"If we talk about the desire of individual countries to find a way out of the impasse in which Washington has led them, this is a conversation. Then they should stop supplying weapons to Ukraine, not accept anti-Russian sanctions and not make Russophobic statements." Maria Zakharova told "Izvestia".

According to Maria Zakharova, the Swiss foreign minister could make such a statement in order to influence Russia's "principled approaches". But in this way, "we will not be lured into this trap," said the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

A day earlier, on January 14, the fourth meeting of national security advisers was held in Davos, where the "peace formula" proposed by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was discussed. During the meeting, the Swiss foreign minister stated that Russia should participate in the negotiation process. At the same time, he noted that the discussion of the peace plan should continue even in the absence of dialogue between Moscow and Kyiv./BGNES
