61-year-old woman has become the oldest woman to give birth in North Macedonia, BGNES reported.
The mother underwent an in vitro procedure, said the director of the University Clinic of Obstetrics and Gynecology in Skopje, Irena Aleksioska Papestieva.
“The birth of baby Petar by the 61-year-old woman shows that there are no longer any boundaries in the world of medicine,” Papestieva noted.
Doctors closely monitored the patient during her pregnancy. She was diagnosed with hypertension and diabetes.
The woman had undergone 10 separate in vitro procedures in the past.
The mother and newborn baby were discharged from the hospital today, November 26. The father is 65 years old.
North Macedonia’s population has decreased by 10% over the past two decades. In 2021, it amounted to 1.8 million people. | BGNES
