"If Vladimir Putin stops the bombing of Ukraine, peace talks can take place the very next day."
This was stated by the President of the European Commission (EC), Ursula von der Leyen, during her visit to Rome, Anadolu Agency reported.
"If Putin stops the bombing, the peace talks can be held the very next day. But the peace process must be led by the Ukrainians. That is their right," says Von der Leyen.
She notes that the world order was established after World War II, but Russia disputes it.
The President of the EC stated that the war, which began with Russia's attack on Ukraine, has changed the perception of security on the continent.
"The next long-term EU budget must take into account the need to increase defense spending," noted Von der Leyen./BGNES
