Viktoriya Tomova climbed 19 places in the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) world rankings and returned to the top 80 for the first time since June 18.
Bulgaria's best female tennis player, who yesterday won the title in Valencia with a prize fund of 100,000 dollars, increased its asset to 873 points and is now 79th in the rankings. Tomova recorded a record ranking this season on May 21, when she progressed to 71st position.
Gergana Topalova kept her 239th position and Isabella Shinikova climbed nine places to number 286. Lia Karatancheva, who is 485th, is also in the top 500 of the rankings.
There are no changes in the Top 10. Iga Swiatek is at the top, followed by Aryna Sabalenka, Coco Gauff, Elena Rybakina and Jessica Pegula.
Among the men, Grigor Dimitrov, for whom the season is over, is again 14th. The other Bulgarians among the first 500 in the rankings are Dimitar Kuzmanov (#209), Adrian Andreev (#264) and Yanaki Milev (#488).
The Serbian Novak Djokovic, who failed to help the Serbian team win the Davis Cup, leads convincingly with 11,245 points. Second is Carlos Alcaraz (Spain) with 8855 points, and the third position is occupied by Daniil Medvedev (Russia) with 7600 points. Immediately after him is Jannik Sinner, who was the big hero for Italy, whose team became Davis Cup champions for the second time in their history. /BGNES
