Verstappen with third consecutive pole position in F1

Three-time Formula One world champion Max Verstappen set the fastest time in qualifying for tomorrow's Australian Grand Prix, the third round of the season in motor racing's most prestigious race.

The Dutchman, who also came first in the previous two qualifiers this campaign in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, left Carlos Sainz (Ferrari) and Red Bull team-mate Sergio Perez second and third respectively. Verstappen will be looking for a third consecutive win.

Lando Norris (McLaren), Charles Leclerc (Ferrari), Oscar Piastri (McLaren), George Russell (Mercedes), Yuki Tsunoda (Honda) and Aston Martin drivers Lance Stroll and Fernando Alonso also entered the top 10. Seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton with Mercedes finished 11th.
