The Vatican has approved blessings for same-sex couples, but insisted that they should not be affirmed as a Catholic rite nor given in the context of civil unions or weddings.
In a document endorsed by Pope Francis, the Vatican supported "the possibility of blessings for couples in irregular situations and for same-sex couples," but "this blessing should never be given simultaneously with civil union ceremonies and not even in conjunction with them." /BGNES
