Valencia and Real Madrid drew 2:2 in a match of the 27th round of La Liga. The Mestalla match will be remembered for the chaotic finale as referee Jesus Manzano blew the final whistle seconds before Jude Bellingham scored the winner for the Royals.
The hosts started the match stronger and struck twice within three minutes midway through the first half. Hugo Duro put Valencia ahead in the 27th minute and Roman Yaremchuk made it 2-0 in the 30th. Vinicius took advantage of Real's abandonment just before the break, and after 76 minutes he equalized again. In the 91st minute, the "bats" were given the right to execute a penalty for a violation against Duro, which was canceled after VAR's intervention. So it was until the 99th minute, when Manzano blew the whistle just as the away player crossed into the penalty area, and a second later Bellingham followed the ball into the net.
The referee's decision angered the Royals players and Bellingham received a straight red card for his heated displeasure. In the final account, the two teams shared the points, and Real Madrid already has a seven-point lead over the second-placed Girona, who are visiting Mallorca today. Valencia occupies the ninth position in the standings with an asset of 37 points.
