US to Iran: Do not escalate conflict in the Middle East

US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken warned Iran against any "escalation" of the conflict in the Middle East. Earlier, the BBC reported Iran's foreign minister warning that "the Middle East could spiral out of control if Israel's military action continues."

"We are concerned about the possibility of Iranian proxies escalating their attacks against our own personnel, against our own people," Blinken said on CBS News.

"We expect that there is a possibility of escalation," he added.

It is yet another reminder of the impact of the conflict on the entire region.

Earlier, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned Hezbollah - Lebanon's most powerful military force - against opening a second military front with Israel.

Iran-backed Hezbollah has been designated a terrorist organization by the UK, US and other countries.

Tensions are rising along Israel's northern border with Lebanon, and nearby Israeli communities are being evacuated.
