The U.S. House of Representatives approved a temporary bill to fund the government until early March. This helped to avert the government shutdown that threatened it if the bill was not approved by today, 19 January.
314 congressmen voted in favor of the bill and 108 voted against it, including 106 Republicans, CNN reported. The document has now been sent to President Joe Biden for final approval.
The Senate approved the bill on 18 January. The initiative assumes that funding for some federal agencies will be extended until March 1 and for others until March 8. Because of the delay in voting on the bill, the White House this month sent warnings to agencies about a possible shutdown. /BGNES
