Global Anti-Corruption Coordinator Richard Nephew will visit Bulgaria on June 14, BGNES reports.
His trip will be part of a tour that also includes Austria and Slovakia, the U.S. State Department said.
In Bulgaria, Nephew is expected to make a speech during a forum organized by the Basel Institute. In his speech, he will address the Blue Dot Network initiative as a framework for improving procurement practices.
Nephew is also scheduled to meet with private sector representatives, government officials and civil society organisations. He will discuss their efforts to engage the private sector to strengthen the rule of law.
The senior U.S. official's tour will begin June 10 in the Austrian capital of Vienna, where he will chair the 15th session of the United Nations Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC) Implementation Review Group and a joint session of the Asset Recovery Working Group and the Working Group on International Cooperation.
Coordinator Nephew will then meet with government officials, civil society organisations and private sector representatives in the Slovak capital Bratislava on 13 June. There, he will discuss ongoing efforts to combat corruption and explore opportunities for further cooperation and collaboration. | BGNES
