The United States is sending a new arms package to Ukraine, US National Security Council spokesman John Kirby said.
U.S. President Joe Biden is trying to speed up military aid deliveries to Ukraine ahead of President-elect Donald Trump's inauguration in January.
"Today the president approved a new security assistance package for Ukraine that will provide them with additional air defenses, artillery, drones and armored vehicles," Kirby stated.
Kirby did not specify the amount of the new aid, but indicated that Biden was committed to continued supplies.
"We will provide additional packages through the end of this administration's term," he said.
Two days earlier, on December 10, the US announced a $20 billion loan to Ukraine, backed by frozen Russian assets. The loan is the culmination of the Group of Seven (G-7) deal to provide Kiev with a total of $50 billion.
On December 7, the Pentagon also announced a weapons package for Ukraine worth nearly $1 billion. | BGNES
