UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has said he still believes in a two-state solution for Israel and Palestine, the Guardian reported.
It comes after Israel's ambassador to the UK, Tzipi Hotoveli, rejected the long-proposed plan.
Sunak said the two-state solution was the right way out of the conflict.
"What is happening right now is extremely worrying. I keep saying that too many innocent people have lost their lives. "No one wants this conflict to go on for a moment longer than necessary," the British prime minister said.
He did not deny Israel's right to defend itself, but added that he told his Israeli counterpart Benjamin Netanyahu last week that the IDF (Israel Defense Forces) must protect the civilian population./BGNES
