The British tabloid Sun reports that Argentinian referee Facundo Tejo will not officiate any more matches from the European Championship in Germany.
Tejo and his team came under heavy criticism after Hungary's dramatic 1-0 win over Scotland in the final round of the tournament's group stage.
The Scots had serious claims for a penalty in stoppage time, which were waved away by Teyo, and VAR did not even consider the situation. Hungary scored the winner shortly afterwards to knock Scotland out of the competition, and Islanders coach Steve Clarke was furious after the final whistle and demanded an explanation from the referee for the missed penalty.
According to the publication, UEFA decided to send Tejo, his assistants, and the VAR team, and they will not officiate matches from the eliminations. The news is expected to be officially confirmed by UEFA today, with five more refereeing teams dropping from the accounts.
