Interior and Local Government Secretary Benhur Abalos Junior recommended on 24 July the declaration of a state of calamity in Metro Manila as thousands of residents fled their homes due to the massive flooding brought about by the Southwest Monsoon that is being enhanced by Typhoon Gaemi.
People battled against strong wind as Typhoon Gaemi expected to make a landfall, in Taipei, Taiwan, 24 July 2024. After having hovered in the waters of the Philippines, Typhoon Gaemi is expected to make landfall in Taiwan on the evening of 24 July, with the Taiwanese weather agency issuing sea and land warnings. People are also reminded to monitor changes to international and domestic flights as disruptions may occur due to the tropical storm that brings in heavy rain and powerful winds. |BGNES
