A 41-year-old man and a two-year-old boy died and two other people were seriously injured in a knife attack in the German town of Aschaffenburg, police said.
A 28-year-old man from Afghanistan was arrested near the scene.
The knife attacks took place in a public park in the centre of the Bavarian city around 11:45 a.m. local time, AFP reported.
"Two people were fatally wounded," police said, and "two seriously injured are being treated in hospital."
"The suspect was arrested in the immediate vicinity of the crime scene."
The second person arrested is a witness and is being questioned. There are no reports of any other suspects and no further danger to the public.
Police said they are continuing to investigate the "background to the crime."
It has cordoned off the park in Aschaffenburg, about 36km southeast of Frankfurt. | BGNES
