Turkish intelligence has busted a cyber-espionage hacker network that stole thousands of personal data

The Turkish Intelligence Service (MIT) has broken up a global cyber-espionage network that has stolen the personal data of thousands of people around the world, including in Turkey.

In a joint effort with local authorities, the MIT launched an investigation under the direction of the prosecutor's office in the capital, Ankara. Security sources said the "cyber espionage network, which had international links, shared stolen personal data with various entities, including terrorist organizations."

Eleven people were arrested in the operation and numerous websites linked to the network were shut down. "The MIT plans to expand operations against cyber espionage threats to protect sensitive personal data and verify international connections, reinforcing its commitment to prevent activities that threaten Turkey's national security," the country's state television reported.
