Turkey arrests 33 people for alleged espionage for Israel

The General Prosecutor's Office in Istanbul has issued arrest warrants for 46 suspects as part of an investigation into an alleged plot by the Israeli intelligence agency Mossad targeting foreigners in Turkey, Sabah reported.

"33 suspects were detained," authorities said. Operations are underway to capture the remaining persons. The authorities confirmed that operations were carried out in 8 provinces against individuals suspected of espionage for Israel.

The investigation found that Israeli intelligence was behind activities directed against foreigners residing in Turkey, from reconnaissance, to attacks and attempted kidnappings. No other details about the investigation were available, but the Mossad has been involved in investigations into attempted kidnappings of Palestinians living in Turkey in the past. /BGNES
