Donald Trump's presidential transition vehicle, dubbed "The Beast," will once again be by his side during his second term. This custom Cadillac, which debuted in 2018, was also used during Trump's first term. Weighing about 20,000 pounds, it is heavily armored for protection from attacks and has a refrigerator stocked with the president's blood type in case of emergencies. Its doors are as heavy as those of a Boeing 757, and it is made of a combination of steel, aluminum and ceramic armor.
Built by General Motors at a cost of $1.5 million, the Beast was commissioned by the US Secret Service. It continues Cadillac's tradition of providing presidential state cars, a role it has filled for decades. The previous vehicle used by Barack Obama from 2009 was also a Cadillac. Before that, Bill Clinton used a Cadillac Fleetwood, and earlier presidential cars included Ford's Lincoln-branded models, such as the first-ever car with a Secret Service specification, the 1939 Lincoln Model K "Sunshine Special." | BGNES
