US presidential candidate Donald Trump has accused his rival Kamala Harris of being an anti-Semite "who plans to authorize the killing of newborns".
The vice president, who is married to a Jew, has built a lead over Trump in polls since replacing Joe Biden as the Democratic leader.
Former Republican President Trump devoted much of his speech at a religious convention in south Florida to attacking Harris' careers as a senator and vice president, but many of his attacks were defamatory.
Explaining why Harris, 59, missed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's speech to the US Congress, Trump accused her of anti-Semitism.
“She doesn't like the Jewish people. She doesn't like Israel. It is and always will be. It's not going to change," Trump was quoted as saying by NBC.
The speech marked an escalation in Trump's inflammatory rhetoric, days after his campaign said the assassination attempt had given him an opportunity to focus on unity. | BGNES
