The Toronto Raptors team officially presented the best Bulgarian basketball player Alexander Vezenkov as their player.
"Welcome to our family, Sasha!", the club wrote on the X social network.
Vezenkov was announced as a new basketball player of the Dinosaurs at the end of last month. He comes to the 2019 champions from the Sacramento Kings, where he spent his debut season in the NBA.
In the deal, Toronto received Vezenkov, Davion Mitchell, draft pick Jamal Shedd a few days ago and a 2025 second-round draft pick, while Jaden McDaniels went to Sacramento. "This trade gives us a mix of young and experienced players as well as flexibility for future trades. We are excited to welcome Davion, Sasha and Jamal to the Toronto Raptors family", said franchise general manager Bobby Webster.
In one season with the Sacramento team, the Bulgarian recorded 42 games in the regular season, in which he registered 5.4 points, 2.3 rebounds and 12.2 minutes per game.
It is curious that Vezenkov was the only one of the Raptors' new additions not to be presented with a number. Sasha's future remains unclear, as there is an option for him to return to Europe, where he last played for the Greek giant Olympiakos.
The Toronto Raptors were founded by Canadian businessman John Bitov-son, who hails from the Kostur region of Aegean Macedonia. | BGNES
