All provinces in Turkey are equipped with electric vehicle charging stations. According to the report, there are 8,492 AC charging sockets and 3,575 DC charging sockets for electric vehicles in 5,614 stations in Turkey.
Anadolu Agency cited the Turkish Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK) as reporting this data.
Compared to cars with gasoline or diesel engines, electric cars offer greater fuel economy and are less energy-intensive.
Experts predict that in the long term, electric cars will play an important role in reducing countries' dependence on foreign energy sources. Also, studies in recent years confirm the positive impact of electric cars on the environment.
In addition to fuel economy and environmental friendliness, electric cars emphasize features such as low maintenance costs, comfortable and quiet driving, advanced technological equipment and autonomous driving function.
In Turkey, however, experts expect the demand for electric cars to grow as the number of electric charging stations increases.
An EPDK regulation has already entered into force in the country, which will allow these vehicles to be used in a more environmentally friendly way.
Istanbul has the most charging points for electric cars in Turkey -1308. Followed by Ankara-542 stations and Antalya-422 stations./BGNES
