The US House of Representatives approved a bill for sanctions against the ICC

The Republican-led US House of Representatives passed a bill imposing sanctions on the International Criminal Court (ICC) over its prosecutor's decision to seek arrest warrants for Israeli ministers linked to the Gaza war.

The document passed by a vote of 247 to 155, with 42 Democrats joining Republicans in support of the measure.

The decision reflects continued support for Israel in Congress amid international criticism of the country's campaign in the Gaza Strip.

Last month, the White House criticized the ICC's decision to seek arrest.

The bill is not expected to come up for a vote in the Senate, which is controlled by Democrats.

The legislation provides sanctions for individuals involved in the prosecution of Americans or nationals of US allies who are not members of the ICC, including Israel.

It also provides for blocking the entry of such ICC officials to the US, revoking all US visas and banning US real estate transactions. | BGNES
