The US added 142,000 jobs in August

U.S. hiring accelerated in August and the jobless rate fell, government data showed.

This paves the way for the likely start of interest rate cuts by the central bank this month, AFP reported.

The world's largest economy added 142,000 jobs last month, although the July figure was revised significantly lower to 89,000. The unemployment rate fell slightly to 4.2 percent, the Labor Department said. | BGNES
