The biggest night in the entertainment calendar has finally arrived - the 96th Academy Awards.
Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer, which has 13 nominations, is expected to top the ceremony later.
Many moviegoers will also support "Barbie", last year's biggest hit at the box office, which has eight nominations.
American TV host Jimmy Kimmel will present the awards from Los Angeles, with the show starting at midnight (GMT).
Officially known as the Academy Awards, they have been presented to big screen talent since 1929.
The Los Angeles-based Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences annually nominates and votes in more than 20 categories, including Best Picture, Best Actor and Best Actress.
Although film award ceremonies, including the Golden Globes and BAFTAs, garner a lot of attention, the Oscars are the pinnacle of the awards season calendar. The members of the Academy vote for the awards./BGNES
