The son of the last Italian king, Simeon's first cousin, died

The son of the last Italian king and first cousin of the Bulgarian king and prime minister Simeon of Saxe-Coburg - Victor Emanuel - has died, BGNES reported.

Victor Emmanuel was the son of the last Italian king Umberto II of Savoy and the Belgian princess Marie-José of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha. He was born on February 12, 1937 in Naples. His aunt is the Queen of Bulgaria Joanna.

After the end of World War II, Umberto was briefly king of Italy, the monarchy was abolished in 1946 and members of the Savoy dynasty were forced to leave the country. They live in exile, mostly in Switzerland and Portugal. After his father's divorce, Victor Emmanuel lives with his mother Marie-José, who is an extremely respectable and noble person. Unfortunately, the same cannot subsequently be said for her son, who during his life was involved in a series of scandals, one of which even affected the former Bulgarian Tsar and Prime Minister Simeon in 2006 and attracted the attention of Europe in the run-up to of our accession to the EU. Because of his scandalous life, he was literally thrown out of the ranks of the… Italian aristocracy, who were deeply outraged by his behavior.

During his life Victor Emanuel worked as a banker and merchant. He is married to a rich Swiss heiress, Marina Doria, with whom he has a son, Emanuela Filiberto. /BGNES
