"The price of Louvre tickets has been increased by 5 euros in the run-up to the 2024 Olympic Games," it was announced on the Paris museum's website, The Business Times reported.
As of today, the price of tickets has been increased by almost 30% - from 17 to 22 euros. Visiting the Louvre will continue to be free for under-18s and EEA residents up to the age of 26.
As the management of the museum explains in the announcement, the increase in prices is a consequence of inflation and the increase in the price of electricity. "However, every other visitor has the right to see the exhibition for free," the museum notes.
Opened in 1793, the Louvre is the most visited museum in the world. In 2022, his collection, which occupies 86 thousand square meters, was viewed by 7.2 million people, which brought the museum 76.5 million euros.
In 2023, the number of visitors was 8.9 million, and 3.6 million visitors (41%) entered the museum for free.
"Paris expects about 15 million tourists to visit the Summer Olympic Games", announced the Ministry of Tourism.
It was previously announced that the price of a trip on the Paris Metro will double during the 2024 Olympics to €4, not €2.10 as it is now. The Olympic Games in Paris will be held from July 26 to August 11, and the Paralympic Games from August 28 to September 8. /BGNES
