The irresistible Françoise Hardy has died at 80

French singer-songwriter Françoise Hardy, whose crystalline voice and melancholic lyrics shot her to global fame in the 1960s, has died aged 80.
Hardy broke through at the age of 18 with his first hit "Tous les Garcons et les Filles" ("All the Boys and Girls") in 1962.
She immediately became a star, released many hits and became a famous actress and model.
Hardy is the only French artist featured in Rolling Stone magazine's 2023 list of the greatest singers of all time.
Singer Thomas Dutronc, Hardy's son by another French music star, Jacques Dutronc, announced her death on social media.
She had been battling cancer since 2004.
Money Match magazine quoted her as saying last year that she wanted to go "soon and quickly, without a lot of suffering". | BGNES
