The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said they had struck more than 600 targets of the Palestinian Hamas movement in the Gaza Strip in the past few days.
According to the IDF Telegram channel, the strikes were carried out from the air, from the sea, as well as during ground raids on the enclave. "Hamas-linked targets were struck, including weapons depots, dozens of anti-tank missile launch positions, as well as militant hideouts and operational bases," the Israeli military said.
According to the IDF, one of the strikes targeted a "combat fire concentration site" that killed about 20 fighters from Hamas and other radical Islamist movements.
On October 27, Israel deployed ground forces into the Gaza Strip. Hamas responded by announcing the start of a ground operation in the region. The IDF denied a full-scale invasion of the Gaza Strip, calling it an expansion of previous operations. On October 28, the IDF said it struck 150 sites in the northern Gaza Strip, including underground tunnels and other infrastructure belonging to Hamas.
According to the New York Times, Israel has decided to refrain from a full-scale invasion of the Gaza Strip and is conducting limited ground operations, at least in the initial phase of bringing troops into the enclave. /BGNES
