German police say they have detained one person in connection with a knife attack in Solingen that killed three people, the BBC reported.
According to the police in Dusseldorf, the arrest was made "as part of the manhunt" and it is currently being checked whether there is a connection with the incident.
"At the same time, a number of police measures are being carried out, including searches in various places," the police said.
The law enforcement authorities announced that they are continuing the search for other potential perpetrators and the investigation of the motive for the attack.
Earlier on August 24, German Interior Minister Nancy Fraser said she was deeply shocked by the attack.
"The brutal attack on the city festival in Solingen deeply shocks us," she wrote on the X social network.
"Our security agencies are doing everything in their power to catch the perpetrator of the horrific act," added the minister.
Chancellor Olaf Scholz called on the attacker to be caught quickly and punished to the full extent of the law. | BGNES
