The Georgia national goalkeeper is Liverpool's first new signing under Arne Slott

23-year-old Giorgi Mamardashvili shone with his performances at Euro 2024.

Giorgi Mamardashvili has become Liverpool's first new signing under new manager Arne Slott. However, the 23-year-old goalkeeper, who shone with his performances at Euro 2024, will remain on loan at Valencia until the end of the season.

Liverpool have signed the national guard from Valencia for the sum of 25 million pounds plus 4 million pounds in the form of bonuses. Following the end of his loan spell with the Bats, Mamardashvili will play at Anfield from 2025, where he will be competing against first-choice goalkeeper Alisson Becker and No. 2 goalkeeper Quimin Kelleher. Apart from Alisson and Kelleher, the Merseysiders have another goalkeeper in the first team – Marcelo Pitaluga. All three have two years remaining on their contracts with the club. Allison has an option for an additional season.

Mamardashvili came out of the school of Dinamo Tbilisi, but never played a match for the first team. After loan spells at Rustavi and Lokomotiv Tbilisi, he was signed by Valencia in 2021. His final match of the season was also his 100th for the Spanish side, as he retained his starting place at the start of the current campaign.

Meanwhile, Liverpool's main rivals in the Premier League - Arsenal and Manchester City - have made transfers. The Gunners have signed Real Sociedad midfielder Mikel Merino, while City have parted ways with left-back Joao Cancelo, who has joined Saudi Al Hilal. Manchester United signed Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Manuel Ugarte. | BGNES
