Bulgarian chess players are very close to the title of the European Women's Team Chess Championship after defeating Poland 2.5:1.5 in their penultimate match in Budva, Montenegro.
Nurgyul Salimova and Beloslava Krasteva registered victories for Bulgaria against the Poles, Antoaneta Stefanov drew, and Gergana Peycheva lost her party. In this way, Bulgaria has a half-point lead at the top of the ranking over the team of Azerbaijan, against which the home athletes have an advantage in direct matches. This means that a draw against Georgia in the last match today will bring the gold medals to the Bulgarian women. Even if we lose, our team will leave Montenegro with a medal.
