U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin announced a $500 million aid package for Ukraine, including air defense missiles, ammunition and equipment for F-16 fighter jets, the Kyiv Independent reported.
The package was unveiled at a summit in Ramstein, Germany. It is expected to be the last tranche of US defence aid provided by the Biden administration before Donald Trump takes office on January 20.
"Month after month, members of this Contact Group are helping to provide, produce and maintain the systems and munitions Ukraine needs," Austin said in his address at the meeting alongside Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius.
"That is why we should not relax. That's why today I'm announcing another package of presidential withdrawal authority that is worth approximately $500 million. It includes additional missiles for Ukraine's air defenses, more ammunition, and more air-to-ground munitions and other equipment to support Ukraine's F-16s," the US secretary said. | BGNES
