Taylor Swift fans are concerned about dubious ticket sales as thousands of people have already been scammed.
Just a few weeks to go until the highly anticipated Eras Tour kicks off in the UK, taking in venues including London's Wembley Stadium and Edinburgh's Murrayfield Stadium. The American superstar will perform in front of more than half a million fans during his tour, which will consist of more than 13 dates. But with tickets in such high demand, some fans have been left without money by scammers who took advantage of their eagerness to catch Taylor live.
Police in Edinburgh have issued a stark warning to Swift fans to beware of "fraudulent tickets" being circulated online which are causing fans to lose thousands of pounds.
In the last two weeks alone, 16 cases of the sale of fake tickets have been registered, leading to significant financial losses, reports Express. In a statement, Edinburgh Police said: "The amount alleged to have been fraudulently paid is estimated to be over £5,000. Much of this fraud has been carried out on online marketplace platforms. Please be vigilant and ensure , that you are purchasing from legitimate sources by verifying all bank details provided."
They also gave advice to those still hunting for tickets to see Taylor Swift this year. Ticketmaster and AXS were the only official ticket sellers for Taylor Swift when they were first released in August 2023 and sold out almost instantly. Although Ticketmaster released its own wave of resale tickets shortly after, they also sold out extremely quickly.
As a result, fans have turned to resale websites such as Viagogo and Vivid Seats to secure seats at the various concerts launching this year. Although they are not yet official retailers, these resale websites have different terms and safety protocols to ensure that fans are not disappointed. /BGNES
