Szijjártó: Orban and Trump will discuss the situation in Ukraine at a meeting

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán will discuss the establishment of peace in Ukraine at a meeting with former US President Donald Trump in Florida on March 8, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjártó said. He stated that the Hungarian authorities believe that the election of Trump as the US president will increase the chances of a peaceful resolution of the conflict.

"Even without his election, we see much less hope for peace in the foreseeable future in Ukraine than if he is elected. We realize that with this position of ours, we do not represent the majority in Europe. However, we are convinced of it," said Szijjártó to RIA Novosti.

According to the minister, those who tried to "develop the events on the battlefield" to improve the military situation in favor of Ukraine, have failed. He accused Ukraine's allies of prolonging the hostilities. If Donald Trump had won the election in 2020, said Peter Sciariato, the conflict in Ukraine would not have reached such proportions and the situation in the Middle East would have been resolved much faster.

In January, Viktor Orbán supported Donald Trump's decision to run in the US presidential elections in 2024. According to the Hungarian prime minister, conservatives in Europe and the US must fight together to "wrest the institutions in Washington and Brussels from the hands of the liberals". According to the Bloomberg agency, their meeting in Florida will increase anxiety among US allies about the possible return of Trump to the presidency./BGNES
