Sylvie Vartan ends her career: "I'm tired, it's time"

The emblematic figure of the ye-ye generation, Sylvie Vartan, has announced the end of her musical career, BGNES reported.

Vartan was born in the Sofia village of Iskrets.

For her farewell, the singer has planned some memorable moments for her fans.

At the age of 80, Sylvie Vartan is still the most beautiful singer in the world. This true monument of French pop, with a 63-year career and no less than 40 million records sold, is nevertheless preparing to take a well-deserved sabbatical this year.

Sylvie Vartan revealed to AFP that she had "fulfilled all her dreams". As a result, the great lady will perform her last concerts from November 8 to 10 at the Dôme, and then from January 24 to 26 at the Palais des Congrès in Paris. She will say goodbye to her admirers, the nostalgic ye-ye fans.

The decision is "irrevocable". The star explained that she felt quite tired: “I've been living on a volcano since I started 63 years ago. I've done so much that at some point I need to calm down a bit, it's time. It's about time. I can't keep up at this breakneck pace even if I feel the same enthusiasm. I'm getting tired. For now, I'm still singing well, but it's inevitable that I'll stop one day."

Unlike Sheila or Chantal Goya, two ye-ye icons who still regularly appear on stage, Sylvie Vartan wants to avoid excessive touring: "The monstrous time differences are bearable, but when you're 20 years old... I want to offer the right things, in the color I like and the way I like. First of all, I don't want to drag myself around the stage!"

After 63 years of a memorable career accompanied by unforgettable hits, when Sylvie Vartan looks back, she always does so with gratitude: "I never thought I would have a career. When I started, I didn't even think of it as a profession. I just knew from my childhood that the stage would be my world. It was like a revelation, like a magic wand being waved over my head. I am very grateful to my lucky stars, to everyone who loved me and gave me so much."

The six final concerts that the singer is preparing to perform are a way of thanking her fans, who she says are an integral part of her success: "I myself can't believe it... It's thanks to this magnificent audience that grew up through the years and who, without realizing it, has given me so much. Shared happiness is very enriching for me. I have evolved and also grown along with my multi-generational audience."

A great artist needs a spectacular farewell. Sylvie Vartan planned everything: "It will be like a musical with the magical moments of my career, which was quite romantic. Everything I shared with the public from the age of 17 with the song "Panne d'essence", a duet with Frankie Jordan. For this farewell, I am working with my choreographer Reda Benteifour, who was once one of my dancers." |BGNES
