The US Supreme Court has ruled that Donald Trump enjoys some immunity from prosecution as a former president, AFP reports. The ruling could delay his trial for conspiracy to rig the 2020 election.
The 6-3 decision, split along ideological lines, comes four months before the election in which Trump is the Republican nominee to face Democrat Joe Biden.
Donald Trump hailed a "big win" for democracy after the Supreme Court ruling.
"A great victory for our constitution and democracy. Proud to be an American!" Trump posted in all caps on his social media platform "Truth Social" as the conservative-leaning Supreme Court delivered its opinion. | BGNES
