British supermodel Kate Moss, whose looks epitomized "Cool Britain" in the 1990s, turns 50 on January 16 and still fascinates the country.
In September last year, the catwalk star told The Times newspaper that she was "in denial" about turning half a century old.
"I'm not going to turn 50," she said in an interview. "No, I don't think about it. I don't feel 50".
However, the newspapers took it upon themselves to remind her of this with numerous articles dedicated to her landmark birthday.
The Guardian spoke to the photographers behind some of Moss' most famous shots, appearing on hundreds of magazine covers and major advertising campaigns.
"You couldn't take a bad picture of her," recalls Kate Garner. "She's so British".
"Of all the celebrity photos I've done, Kate's just keeps selling," she added.
Moss, who grew up in Croydon, South London, was discovered as a talent by a modeling agency at the age of 14.
Three years later, she became famous for her girlish looks and for modeling Calvin Klein underwear in flirty poses.
In 2022, Moss told the BBC that she felt "objectified, vulnerable and scared".
