Starmer greeted Zelensky with a handshake and a hug in front of Downing Street, where the Ukrainian leader is also expected to meet the new head of NATO, Mark Rutte.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has arrived in London for a meeting with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, AFP reports.
Starmer greeted Zelensky with a handshake and hug outside Downing Street, where the Ukrainian leader is also expected to meet new NATO head Mark Rutte.
"It's very important to be able to show that we continue to support Ukraine, and the meeting is an opportunity to look at the plan (to defeat Zelensky - ed.), to talk in more detail," the British prime minister said.
After the meeting in London, which was attended by Defence Secretary John Healey, Chief of the Defence Staff Tony Radakin and National Security Adviser Tim Barrow, Zelensky will head to France and Italy and then Germany.
The Ukrainian president is seeking to secure as much financial and military support as possible during the tour, as U.S. support is in question if Donald Trump wins the November vote.
