Spotify removes music of Russian singers who supported aggression against Ukraine

Spotify has removed the music and profiles of several prominent Russian pro-war singers.

On June 27, the company confirmed to the Moscow Times that the artists had "reached the threshold for removal" for violating Spotify's content policies.

The removal affected the group "Lyube" and singers Grigoriy Leps, Oleg Gazmanov and Shaman, who in September 2022 sang at a concert in Moscow in support of the illegal annexation of Ukrainian territory.

The aforementioned contractors were sanctioned for their support of the full-scale invasion of Russia.

Meanwhile, Shaman and other artists are still available on other Western music platforms such as YouTube and Apple Music.

In the immediate aftermath of the full-scale Russian invasion, Spotify closed its office in Russia and stopped offering its streaming services in the country. | BGNES
