Spain climbed five places in the updated FIFA rankings and now occupies third place in the world. It comes after La Furia Roja's triumph at Euro 2024, where Luis de la Fuente's side won all seven of their matches en route to a record fourth European title.
World No. 1 remains world champions Argentina, who recorded another major success and defended their Copa America title to extend their lead at the top. In second place is the world vice-champion France, which was eliminated in the semifinals of the European Championship in Germany. The top 10 of the rankings is invaded by Colombia after losing the final of the Copa America, with James Rodriguez and company now in the 9th position. Belgium (down three places to number 6) and Portugal (down two places to number 8) recorded declines.
Bulgaria did not play a single match in the period since the last update of the rankings and continues to occupy 82nd place with its previous asset - 1295.5 points.
The biggest jump in the ranking was recorded by Venezuela (+17 places), while the biggest drop was recorded by the Czech Republic (-13 places). The next FIFA rankings will be published on September 19. | BGNES
