SpaceX successfully "caught" the first stage of the accelerator on its Starship megarocket as it was returning to the launch pad after a test flight.
It was the company's first-ever attempt at rapid reuse, AFP reported.
The "superheavy accelerator" had launched, attached to the Starship rocket, minutes earlier, then made a perfectly controlled descent to the same pad in Texas, where a pair of "wands" reached out from the launch structure to stop the slowly descending accelerator, according to a livestream from Elon Musk's SpaceX company. | BGNES
