Snoop Dogg to star in Luc Besson sci-fi film

Snoop Dogg will star in and co-produce Luc Besson's new sci-fi film The Last Man. While details of the post-apocalyptic plot are under wraps, it is believed to be inspired by Planet of the Apes and may be related to Dogg's 2009 song Last Man Standing.

Besson, known for the films "The Fifth Element" and "Lucy," is writing the film, which is expected to combine science fiction, comedy and action. It will be his first collaboration with Snoop in nearly 20 years, after they worked together on the animated film "Arthur and the Minimoys."

The film is produced by Virginie Besson-Silla, Luc Besson and Snoop's Death Row Pictures, and filming will begin in 2025.

Besson expressed his excitement about working with Snoop again, saying, "We just needed the right project... and this is it, with Snoop in the lead role." Snoop, a longtime fan of Besson's work, said, "I've always wanted Luke to direct an entire movie for me and now we finally have the opportunity."

Among Besson's recent works are "Dogman," which competed at the Venice Film Festival, and a new adaptation of "Dracula" starring Caleb Landry Jones and Christopher Waltz. | BGNES
