Sky Sports: Liverpool have agreed terms with Ruben Amorim

Liverpool management have reached a verbal agreement with Sporting Lisbon coach Ruben Amorim to replace Jurgen Klopp at the end of the season, reports Sky Sports. The Merseysiders are on the hunt for a successor to Klopp after he announced his departure from Anfield after nearly 9 highly successful years.

Former Reds midfielder Xabi Alonso was initially thought to be the favorite to become the Reds' next coach, but he has announced that he will stay at Bayer Leverkusen next season. So Liverpool bosses turned to Amorim, who is regarded as one of the most promising young coaches in Europe. According to reports, the two sides have reached a verbal agreement for a three-year contract, with Liverpool paying Sporting a penalty for terminating Amorim's contract. The Portuguese specialist was also wanted by Bayern Munich, who are also looking for a new coach to replace Thomas Tuchel in the summer.

Amorim has been in charge of the Lions for four years now, leading them to their first league title in 19 years in 2021, and this campaign Sporting have a four-point lead at the top of Benfica with a game in hand. /BGNES
