Singer Jessie J suffers from an anxiety disorder

Singer Jessie J has revealed she has been diagnosed with obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).

The 36-year-old 'Price Tag' singer, who gave birth to her son Sky Saffir Cornish Coleman last year, said childbirth has "exacerbated" these conditions "a lot more".

In an Instagram post, she says: "Hi. I was diagnosed with OCD and hyperactivity about three months ago. When I was telling people, a lot of the reactions I was getting was, 'Yeah, I mean we knew that' (which I'm sure some of you do now) and of course I knew to a certain extent, but having the baby, let's say... revealed a lot more of it, which was reassuring in a way because it made it less severe and scary."

According to the US National Health Service (NHS) website, ADHD is a condition that affects people's behavior and can make them appear restless or impulsive.

The health service states that OCD is a mental health condition in which a person has obsessive thoughts and compulsive behavior that can interfere with their quality of life.

Jessie, whose full name is Jessica Cornish, added: "It's strange when you know that all your life you've been a bit different and felt things differently, and then one day when you least expect it, someone really explains why, and you can't avoid it."

The Do It Like A Dude singer said ADHD is "across a broad spectrum", adding that it feels "like a superpower as long as you look at it from the right perspective and have the right people around you who can navigate it with you".

She said the diagnosis has made her rethink her whole life.

"The way I've lived, the way I deal with things, the relationships I've had. How I work and how I love - everything has changed," she said.

"If there's one thing that social media has given me, it's the opportunity to connect, bond and heal alongside strangers who have similar hearts to mine and are going through a similar thing." I BGNES
